I'm a huge huge fan of Futurama, so it strikes me as no surprise that the straight-to-DVD movies have quite a bit of hype involved in them. But recently the latest movie, Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs, which is set to be released June 24th in continental USA, has been leaked out in private circles. The film was leaked out sometime in the early portion of June. I already pre-ordered the movie, but I managed to get a copy of it - which I've watched a bit of (I think in this case it's fair, I already paid for it - so what does it matter if I watch it early)? Of course having a pirated copy really peils in comparision to owning the real thing, asides from the shiny box that it comes in - there's also the dvd extras which don't yet come with pirated copies. Anyways, I'm going to finish off the movie later today, so far:*spoilers*
There's a rip in the Universe that's getting bigger and bigger. Fry has a new girlfriend, who he met while gawking at the tear in the Universe, and Leela's a bit jealous. Amy has married Kiff, the wedding ceremony takes place in the same place he gave birth to his children with Leela as father...err Amy as his mate. We get to see his Kiff's father, who's basically a fly since all elderly aliens of Kiff's race become flies. Amy's parents aren't too happy about it all. Captain Brennigan is Kiff's best man - which doesn't stop him from hitting on Amy throughout the course of the wedding.
The Grande Midwife is also the Grande Lunch lady and the Grande Priest, she works 5 jobs. There's a summit for scientists (and apparently the Planet Express Delivery crew) about the growing problem of the tear in the Universe, which again no one seems to be concerned with - except for a few tired easily scared civillians (hmm sounds a lot like Global Warming?). And that's just a good 25 minutes into it.
Anyways here's an ultra exclusive sneak peak - the first portion of the film, "fair use" and all that. It's quite short because my convertor software was acting up, and I don't exactly have a state -of the art pc so rendering the first part was pretty bad (hence the laggy picture).
